How to activate and deactivate “roaming”

If in another post we explained how to transfer data from one mobile to another, in today’s post we will show you how to activate and deactivate “roaming” on your Android or iPhone device.
When we are going on a trip, we usually prepare our suitcases and everything we plan to take with us on the trip, including our mobile phones. Generally speaking, we don’t have to worry too much about whether or not our smartphones will work properly. However, there is a problem when we travel to a foreign country because we will not have reception with our mobile carrier.
This is because carriers only cover the countries where they offer their services. However, these companies will have agreements with foreign operators so that no one is left without reception. This is called “roaming” or “data roaming”.
Having no reception and consequently, being without an internet connection is something that nobody wants and that, nowadays, can be a big problem. Thanks to having reception we can contact our family and friends, we can work, we can do business, and we even pay with our mobile phones. That’s why at Axarfusion we will show you how to activate “roaming”, whether you are team iPhone or team Android so that you are always connected. Here we go!

Activate iPhone roaming

It is crucial that when you go abroad you have roaming activated so that you won’t have an unpleasant surprise once your bill arrives. In addition to activating it on your smartphone, you must also confirm it with the company.
Once you have confirmation from your service provider, you will have to go through the following steps:

  • Go to “Settings”
  • Click on “Mobile data”
  • Under “Mobile Data”, activate the “Mobile Data” function
  • Go to “Options”
  • In this section, activate the “Data Roaming” function

Note that on most Android devices when roaming is activated, the letter “R” usually appears at the top of the screen.

Activate “roaming” on Android

As in the previous case, before activating roaming on our device, we must contact our operator to confirm the activation of data roaming.

  • Go to Settings
  • At the top you will find the “More” section
  • Click on “Mobile Networks”
  • Activate the “Data Roaming” option

It is worth noting that throughout Europe, data roaming on Spanish carriers is included in data plans. However, if you intend to travel outside the European continent, these rates may change. On the other hand, you may already have roaming activated within your country because you use a virtual mobile operator, in which case you will not be charged anything for it.
With this easy method, you will have roaming activated on your smartphone and you will be able to travel to any country without fear of being left without reception, but remember to inform your operator beforehand. Have a good trip!
