It is a 14 – 17 digit number that allows networks to identify a phone and obtain information about what type of phone it is, including where it was manufactured and its model.
The IMEI number is also used to know which company the cell phone belongs to, to know when you bought the cell phone. How can I find out my IMEI number on my Smartphone?
Android
The first place to look is in the box of your phone, don’t you have it? It’s all right. Fortunately, you can quickly find your phone’s IMEI number without the box. How? Go to your cell phone settings. As the settings of an Android phone are usually different depending on the model or brand, there is no fixed path. But if you type “IMEI” at the top of the search bar, you’ll find the number in a jiffy.
Iphone
As in the previous case you should look in the original box of your Iphone, usually appears on the back. If you do not have this box you can find your IMEI in the settings section:
- Open settings.
- We entered General.
- Click on Information.
- You got it!
You can also find it through the Finder program (Mac). You will need to plug your iPhone into your Mac and open this program. Once opened you will find the IMEI in the ”general” tab.
Universal method
If after applying the above methods you still have not found the IMEI there is a simpler way that works for any device. To do this, go to the call menu and type *#06#. After this, the IMEI number of your device will immediately appear on your screen.
My phone only shows one MEID number
A MEID number and an IMEI are essentially the same thing. Some devices and networks use MEID numbers instead, which have 14 digits instead of 17. MEID stands for “Mobile Equipment Identifier”.
Why do I have two IMEI numbers?
If you have a dual SIM card phone, you will see that you have two different IMEI numbers.rentes. This is so that you can connect to two different networks on the same device.
